Lake Tulloch Closure

Lake Tulloch Closed to Recreational Boating Until Further Notice

Jamestown, CA – In an effort to protect Tulloch Reservoir from the potential spread of invasive species, the Tri-Dam Project has announced the immediate closure of the reservoir to all-recreational boating until further notice.

This decision was made to prevent the introduction of the Golden Mussel, an invasive species known for causing severe ecological and infrastructure damage. Golden mussels are highly invasive, prolific reproducers that threaten water supplies by fixing themselves to underwater surfaces and clogging intake pipes and conveyance facilities.

They can throw off the ecological balance by displacing native species and sport fish. Once introduced, they are difficult to eradicate. The larval microscopic mussels can survive for extended periods of time in waters. They are easily transported in live wells, bilges, ballast tanks, engine system, plumbing or any other compartments onboard boats or watercraft.

We understand this may impact recreational users, but protecting the reservoir’s long-term health is our top priority. By taking proactive measures now, we can prevent costly and irreversible damage to our ecosystem and water infrastructure.

The Tri-Dam Project is developing a process for lakefront property owners who currently have vessels on Tulloch.  Our partnering agencies and HOA’s will monitoring ramp access, with local law enforcement assisting as needed.

The closure will remain in effect until further notice as assessments continue. Updates will be available at on our website www.tridamproject.com as more information becomes available.
